A new opportunity for dogs facing abandonment

Rescue is only the first step

For a dog facing abandonment, receiving help can mean the difference between remaining exposed to danger and beginning a new chapter. At Fundación Alheyya A.C., we care for dogs living on the streets, those who have been abandoned, and those who have suffered abuse.

Every case requires a different response. Some dogs need immediate medical attention, while others need food, rest, and a safe place. Dogs that have endured difficult experiences may also need time to regain their trust in people.

That is why our work does not end when we remove them from danger. Rescue is the beginning of a process focused on restoring their physical and emotional well-being.

Care, recovery, and support

After a rescue, we identify each dog’s individual needs. Care may include a veterinary assessment, medical treatment, deworming, vaccination, spaying or neutering, and proper nutrition.

Recovery also means providing calm, patience, and respectful care. Little by little, many dogs begin to feel safe, interact with people, and show their personalities again.

Every sign of progress matters. Eating calmly, resting without fear, accepting affection, or beginning to play are signs that a dog is leaving a difficult chapter behind.

Adoption must be responsible

Finding a family does not mean placing a dog with the first interested person. Responsible adoption requires understanding the conditions of the home, the family’s available time and commitment, and its ability to meet the animal’s needs.

Adopting means accepting responsibility for the dog’s entire life. This includes food, veterinary care, suitable space, exercise, protection, and, above all, patience and affection.

It is also important to remember that some dogs need an adjustment period. A new home, new people, and new routines may make them feel uncertain at first. Support and understanding are essential as they settle into their new family.

Every rescued dog deserves more than survival: they deserve to feel protected, respected, and part of a family.

An opportunity built together

Animal rescue is possible because people report cases, offer support, share posts, donate supplies, or open their homes through responsible adoption.

You can also help by promoting spaying and neutering, preventing abandonment, and encouraging others to treat animals with respect and responsibility.

At Fundación Alheyya A.C., we will continue working so more dogs can leave life on the streets behind and receive a new opportunity.
